Elm Street

New Build

Elm Street

This project took place in Morgantown’s South Park Historic District. Initially planned as a redecking project with some additional square footage, it evolved into a complete rebuild.

During construction, we encountered several challenges, including the lip from a previous addition, which required framing the deck with 2x8s instead of our standard 2x10s. While digging new footers, we also had to navigate around utility lines and tree roots.

Despite these obstacles, we successfully built a stunning 156-square-foot deck with stairs leading down to the driveway. The deck features Trex Enhance Basics Clamshell decking and Deckorators Grab and Go railings.

Since the deck is located at the front of the house, the customer requested a “lattice-like” covering to conceal the framing. We achieved this by using the Clamshell decking to create a seamless, polished look, complete with a custom-made gate for access from the backside.

This project exemplifies our ability to adapt to challenges and deliver a functional, visually appealing outdoor space that enhances the charm of a historic neighborhood.
